Blog Post #2

I have been using MS Word since middle school for assignments such as writing essays. However, in my junior year of high school I started using Google Docs for everything because I started to do more assignments that required me to use a word processing software and I found Docs to be easier for me. It also helps that I have a Chromebook, so Docs is the main software that I would use on my laptop. I think that Docs is more simple than Word and I like the layout of it more. Because of this, I am a little rusty with MS Word as I have not really used it in over a year.  I think the standard that is the most meaningful to me is "leader". In my own experience, the role of educators is to lead their students in learning and to be a role model for them. I know that a lot of my teachers are people that I looked up to and who I wanted to be like when I grew up. I am really excited about this class. I already have had so much fun getting to design a welcome sign for my future class. I hope that in this class I will learn more about how to use technology for educational purposes. Although I use technology quite frequently, I do have some areas that need some more work. One of my weaknesses in technology is Excel because I never really had to use it until now. I know that it will be very beneficial for me to learn how to use this technology so I look forward to when we start learning it in this class. All of the things I will learn in this class will help me prepare lessons/lesson plans, games, decorations for my classroom, and so much more. I know my future self will thank me for taking this class. I have been fortunate to have been using laptops in school since the fourth grade.
