I was in 8th grade when Covid hit, so I spent the rest of the year online like everyone else. I had to use Zoom and Canvas to attend class and get work done. I think Zoom is effective because it allows the speaker to screenshare and teach in a kind of face-to-face manner. However, it is very easy for students to get distracted or not pay attention to the speaker because they can turn off their camera and do what they want. Canvas is also a great way to assign work and keep track of grades but it was very challenging for me to learn strictly through instructions on Canvas because sometimes they are unclear or not very detailed. An open educational resource is one that anyone can use and typically can be shared or edited. I found an article on OER on the FSU Libraries website.
